BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 29. Iran's imports of essential commodities (rice, vegetable oil, animal feed, etc.) decreased 6 percent in value and 0.36 percent in weight during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Customs Administration shows that Iran imported 15.9 million tons of essential commodities worth $12 billion during eight months.
Imports of essential goods during the mentioned period amounted to 27 percent of Iran's imports in value terms and 65 percent in weight.
To note, Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 24.5 million tons worth $45.1 billion during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 2024). During the eight months, Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 6.9 percent in value and decreased 1.73 percent in weight compared to last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
