Iranian researchers are trying to manufacture an environment-friendly vehicle through reverse engineering
According to Iran's Deputy Energy Minister Alireza Daemi, Iran has already imported a model of Japan's Nissan electric car named LEAF for reverse engineering purposes, IRNA news agency reported March 30.
Reverse engineering is the reproduction or duplication of a product through examination of its construction or composition.
Daemi hopes that in the near future Iran would be able to produce solar- and electricity-powered vehicles.
He said Iran's Sixth Development Plan underlines replacing a part of fossil fuel-powered cars for green cars.
Vehicles used in Iran are outdated and low efficient compared to current products.
Hybrid and electric cars have not found their way to the country yet.
