Iran is witnessing an annual growth rate of 15 percent in e-commerce, enjoying a good ranking among regional countries, said CEO of the country’s Electronic Commerce Promotion Center Ramazanali Sadeqzadeh.
E-commerce (electronic commerce or EC) is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet. In 2015, the world e-commerce amounted to $17 billion.
So far 21,700 online companies have received a certificate for e-commerce in Iran, he said, Mehr news agency reported November 19.
The official said statistics have shown that people in under-developed areas are more interested in e-commerce than in large cities.
