Iran has launched air defense systems in 3700 points across the country, said the commander of Iran's Khatam ol-Anbiya air defense base, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili.
Esmaeili said that before the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) , there were 600 air defense points in the country, and Iran added 400 more during the war, and currently the total number is 3700.
He further said that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has announced that Iran has the safest sky in the Middle East, the Tasnim news agency reported on September 19.
Since July last year, the number of flights over Iran's sky has tripled, he said, adding that more than 1200 airplanes fly over Iran during 24 hours.
In March, Esmaeili said Iran is capable of detecting reconnaissance planes of enemies from long distance. He said that any flight in any part of the country can be traced.
