Georgian parliament does not ban legal abortion

The Georgian parliament has not banned legal abortion to prevent the birth of a child of particular sex. However, it is ready to consider the Council of Europe resolution. The Council of Europe appealed to Georgia with this recommendation.

The issue will be discussed in the parliament, after the Georgian delegation in the PACE will return home. The health committee chairman Otar Toidze said that the sex of the child can not be regulated in this way.

Toidze also stressed that according to the Georgian legislation, the patient has a right to know the full information about health and disease.
