Sweden win, Poland draw in Euro 2008 tuneup matches

Sweden won while Poland drew on Monday night as the tune-up matches of Euro 2008 finalists continued on Monday night, dpa reported.

The Swedes downed Slovenia 1-0 in Gothenburg from Tobias Linderoth's 41st-minute winner.

Poland, by contrast, were lucky to salvage a 1-1 draw with Macedonia in Reutlingen, Germany. Radislaw Matusiak scored for Poland on a penalty with seven minutes left to cancel out Macedonia's lead from Goran Maznov on the stroke of halftime.

Both Sweden and Poland experimented in the final countdown to the continental tournament June 7-29 in Austria and Switzerland.

Poland meet three-time champion Germany, co-hosts Austria and Croatia in group B. Sweden are up against holders Greece, Russia and fancied Spain in group D.

Pre-Euro action continues on Tuesday when four finalists are in action the day before all 16 teams have to submit their final 23-player squad to the governing body UEFA.

Poland play again in Reutlingen, against Albania, the Germans host Belarus, Austria meet Nigeria and France play Ecuador in the final matches before.
