Europe requires fundamental structural reforms, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said at debate within the Astana Economic Forum.
"Today, the world economy is even more vulnerable," he said. "We now live in a unique unpredictable era. Therefore, the key to Europe is today the availability of a coordinated policy for further economic growth. The economy should be balanced with policy, especially in the euro zone, which needs a fundamental structural reform."
He said Europe risks thinking that they have a choice.
"There is a choice, on the one hand, between tough economy and reforms, and on the other hand, between economic growth without reforms. What should we do in this case? We must have a macroeconomic policy that would move us forward and balance the whole world economy."
He said that there is no alternative for Europe except using fundamental structural reforms in such areas as social, pension provision, labor market," he said.
