Democratic Elections Center of Azerbaijan Brings Baku City Executive Power to Court

Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 May /corr. Trend J.Babayeva / Democratic Elections Center, which brings together nine opposition parties of Azerbaijan, has brought Baku City Executive Power to court. The Chairman of Azadlyg Party, which is represented in the Center, Ahmad Oruj stated that the decision on it was made at the meeting of organization on 15 May.

On 30 January, nine opposition parties - Azerbaijan Classic Popular Front Party, Azadlyg Party, National Democratic Party, Great Establishment Party, Azerbaijan Unified Popular Front Party, Great Azerbaijan Party, Open Society Party, Takamul Party and Green Party made a decision to establish Democratic Elections Center.

Baku City Executive Power gave permission to the Center to hold a demonstration on 12 May in Bibi Heybat settlement. However, the Center refused to hold demonstration in this square.

The Center suggested holding the demonstration in National Park, in square in front of Nariman Narimanov Cinema, Fizuli Square, Garden of Academy of Sciences and Jafar Jabbarli square.

According to Chairman of Azadlyg Party, the complaint was submitted to Sabail District Court.

Oruj said that the issue of confirming the Center's new demonstration date was not discussed.
