Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 5 June / Trend corr. B.Abdullayev / Alexander Stabb, acting Chairman of the OSCE, considers that an improvement in human right situation has been observed in Uzbekistan lately. "I think there is a certain progress in the sphere of human rights situation in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, there is a certain positive development in the democratization of country as well. The country has now cancelled the death penalty, liberalized the legal system, as well as recently released the human rights activists," Stabb said to journalists in Tashkent.
According to Stabb, there is no country where the human rights are observed ideally. "The human rights situation is not ideal both in the West and East," Stabb said. Uzbekistan has successfully implemented three reforms- build a free economy market, actively participates in international life and integrates into the world community, as well as has upgraded the human rights and democratized the current law, Stabb stated.
" Uzbekistan succeeded to build a free market after collapse of the Soviet Union. Another reform implemented by the country is that it takes part in different international organizations, agreements and conventions," OSCE acting Chairman said.
Within the framework of the visit to Uzbekistan from 3 to 4 June, OSCE Head met with the President, Parliamentarians and representatives of citizen societies. The meeting was focused on the security in the Central Asia, as well as human rights, democratization and other issues.
