Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, April 16 / Trend H. Hasanov /
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov plans to pay an official visit to Romania in May, an official Turkmen source said.
A number of intergovernmental agreements will be concluded during the scheduled visit.
This country's President Traian Basescu sent an official invitation to visit Romania to his Turkmen counterpart last October in order "to continue bilateral high-level dialogue and identify new projects of cooperation".
President Basescu paid an official visit to Ashgabat on July 22, 2009.
Bucharest and Ashgabat expressed the unity of positions on issues of international energy security by diversifying energy supplies to sale markets.
Romania is directly interested in gaining direct access to the Turkmen gas. Romanian Transgaz is a participant of the Nabucco pipeline project, along with the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE.
Europroject "Nabucco" is aimed at getting access to different natural fuel sources, including energy resources of the Caspian region, primarily from Azerbaijan and Central Asian states.
