Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 9 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /

The opposition rallies are seasonal, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, MP Siyavush Novruzov told Trend today.

He was commenting on the rally planned to be held by the so-called opposition Public Chamber on October 13.

"We know that the opposition usually holds its rallies in the spring and autumn," he said. "Apparently, they have no funds. It is necessary to take some money from international organisations because winter holidays will begin soon and they are preparing for them. After the spring rallies, they go to sanatoriums."

He said that the opposition has no social base or electorate.

"While holding the rallies it wants to show its worth to the international organisations," he said. "However, all people in Azerbaijan know its vanity."

Novruzov also stressed that holding the forthcoming rally must comply with the law on freedom of assembly. "They must hold their rally in a place allocated by Baku's executive power. If they try to hold a rally in another place, it will be stopped."
