The People`s Artist of Azerbaijan and Russia, the vice-president of Russian Academy of Arts ,Tahir Salahov, has been elected as full member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts on the nomination of art.
The decision was taken by the Academy's nominations committee at the last meeting of the Senate of the Academy on July 8, the Secretariat of the Academy told Trend.
Presentation of the Diploma will be at the plenary session to be held in Salzburg on March 3, 2012.
Salahov has been elected the Academy member of the third class - a class of art. The members of the Academy are organized in seven scientific classes: humanities, medicine, arts, natural sciences, social sciences, law and economics, technical and environmental sciences and world religions.
The European Academy of Sciences and Arts unites more than 1,400 members. Its most well-known members are His Majesty Pope Benedict XVI and 28 Nobel Prize winners.
Salahov is one of the brightest representatives of the Azerbaijani intelligentsia, whose works are well known not only in the CIS space, but also outside it. The artist lives and works in Moscow.
Repairmen, Portrait of composer Gara Garayev, Portrait of the composer Dmitri Shostakovich, Mexican corrida, Portrait of Maximilian Schell's, etc, can be named among the most famous works of Salahov.
