ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 27. The past year has seen significant progress in Kazakhstan's transport and transit potential, Berik Uali, the press secretary of Kazakhstan's President, told Kazakhstani media, Trend reports.

According to Uali, on February 28 this year, President Tokayev inaugurated the Transport and Logistics Center in Xi'an, China, via teleconference. Xi'an is a key transit hub in China, and its dry port is the largest in the country, handling up to 40 percent of the total volume of container trains between China and the EU, Uali said.

The projected capacity of Kazakhstan's terminal in Xi'an's dry port is over 66,500 TEUs per year.

The terminal will give exporters from Kazakhstan access to new markets, significantly reduce delivery times, and strengthen Kazakhstan's position as a reliable transit hub in Eurasia, the press secretary emphasized.

He also highlighted the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), on which a cargo dispatch ceremony was held on July 3, with the participation of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and China's President Xi Jinping via teleconference.

TITR, or the Middle Corridor, passes through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea basin, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and then continues to European countries. It is an effective transport route both economically and in terms of reducing cargo delivery times.
