The Industry and Construction Production Ministry of Turkmenistan intends to build a calcite factory, Trend reports via Orient.tm.
The factory with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons will be located in the Koytendag district of the Lebap region. Earlier reports from the government said the initial plan was to produce only 500 tons of calcite a year.
Calcite will be used in the Turkmen industry to make high-value products such as paints, drywall, and other building materials.
The idea behind the launch of local calcite manufacturing is to get rid of imported components.
Back in 2020 Turkmenistan opened an enterprise for production of dry building mixes and drywall. The enterprise was envisaged to produce 4 million square meters of drywall and 5,000 tons of dry mixes per year, using calcite as main raw material.
