A new administrative building of the Central Customs Committee of Baku was opened on the margins of introduction the single window system in all checkpoints of the country, Customs Committee head Vusal Novruzov said on Jan. 29.
"The new building was completely automatized and has a one local network with all checkpoints of the country. This will allow residents to acquire registration in places," Novruzov added.
Residents will register customs declarations within 20-30 minutes after the introduction of the system. Earlier this process took an hour or half.
The administrative building is active for four days. 400 customs declarations were registered on the first working day, Novruzov said.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree on introduction of a 'single window' principle from Jan. 1, 2009 during inspection of commodities and vehicles at state border check-points. The decree states that taking into consideration the fact that the 'Silk way' and 'North-South' transport corridor are the important part of Azerbaijan, a significant attention is paid on extension of state border capacity. To remove artificial obstacles during the check up of commodities and vehicles and import and export operations in accordance with up-to-date requirements is the key goal of introduction of the system.
