Belarus ready to partake in Tajikistan programs

Belarus is ready to take an active part in the implementation of Tajikistan's development programs and projects, BelTA reported with the referring to a source with the official delegation accompanying Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Tajikistan.

"It pertains not only to an opportunity of expanding the supplies of automobile, agricultural and other Belarusian equipment to Tajikistan, but to the good prospects of developing cooperation links, setting up joint ventures to produce goods Tajikistan needs," said the source.

He stressed that today close economic ties and all-round cooperation would help strengthen sovereignty and improve stability in the two states.

In particular, the agro-industrial complex, engineering, petrochemical, food and light industries look quite promising for bilateral cooperation. "Belarus is ready to participate, on mutually beneficial terms, in the modernization of the Tajik production complex, establish industrial cooperation links," said the source.

Among other promising projects are the supplies of Belarusian dump, road and agricultural equipment, large dump trucks for the construction of hydroelectric power plants in Tajikistan, and opening of joint assembling plants.

The urban municipal transport program adopted by Dushanbe authorities through 2015 envisages the acquisition of new trolleybuses and the construction of a trolleybus assembling plant. "This might also be one of the areas for developing bilateral cooperation," the source noted.

Besides, Tajikistan may be interested in involving Belarusian specialists into its infrastructure projects including the construction of international transport communications.

According to the source, trade and economic cooperation is fostered by a good and constructive political dialogue between the two countries, their common viewpoints on the international issues as well as many-year cooperation experience within the integration associations.

Today's talks between the presidents of Belarus and Tajikistan will focus on economic growth, mutual trade and cooperation development. The heads of state will discuss collaboration in integration unions, the international issues of current importance as well as cooperation in culture, science, education, and prevention of emergencies among other things.
