Kazakh GDP growth to hit six per cent in 2012

Real GDP growth is forecast at six per cent in 2012, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov said at an enlarged meeting of the People's Democratic Party Nur Otan (ruling party) on Monday.

"According to our forecasts, in 2012 real GDP growth will reach six per cent. Economic growth will be accompanied by an increase in the welfare of the population and according to forecasts, GDP per capita will rise to $12.500," Mr Masimov said.

He said according to an updated estimate, the industrial production volume in 2012 will increase by 3.9 per cent.

"In the construction area the volume of work will grow by 2.9 per cent in real terms whilst trade by 12.7 per cent. A stable external situation will contribute to an increase of exports up to $87.9 billion. Parameters for inflation will remain in the previously forecasted corridor, namely six to eightper cent as of late 2012," Mr Masimov said.
