The first all-Iranian car will be supplied to the market by March 2014, ISNA reported.
Iran's Khodro and Saipa, the two giant Iranian carmakers, have previously introduced a number of domestically built cars so far, namely Samand, Runna, and Tiba.
However, this is the first time a car will be built on a platform which has been designed and developed through the use of Iranian expertise.
It is projected that 10-12 cars in different classes will be manufactured on the Iranian-made platform.
Iran plans to manufacture at least three million cars by 2025 and export some one million sets, the Fars News Agency quoted Industry, Mine, and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari as saying on June 16.
"Some 1.6 million cars were manufactured in the past calendar year and 55,000 were exported," Ghazanfari said.
