Grain harvesting increases in Azerbaijan

Grain harvesting has been completed by 11.4 percent in Azerbaijan, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture.

As of June 9, barley and wheat were harvested on a 115,330-hectare-area. Some 114,470 hectares accounted for barley, while 86,000 hectares – for wheat.

So far, 344,550 tons of crops have been collected from the fields, of which 341,860 tons accounted for barley, and 2,700 tons for wheat.

The average yield for barley is 29.9 centners per hectare, while for wheat - 31.4 centners per hectare.

Currently, the collection of grain crops is underway in 36 districts, mainly in the Aran economic region, and partly in the Aran zone of the foothill regions.

To date, the highest yields have been observed in Sabirabad district. The average barley yield in the district is 38.1 centners per hectare.

High yields are also observed in the barley fields of Salyan district (38 centners per hectare), Imishli district (37.9 centners per hectare), Saatli district (37.8 centners per hectare), Samukh district (37.8 centners per hectare), Aghdam district (36.7 centners per hectare) and Tartar district (34.2 centners per hectare).

Some 1,154 combines are involved in the collection process, of which 419 are combines that are on the balance of the regional divisions of Agroleasing OJSC. Moreover, the leasing company supplied 186 combines to the Aran zone.

As many as 549 combines owned by individuals and legal entities are also involved in the collection process. In total, over 1,700 combines are planned to be involved in the collection process.

Some 1.01 million hectares accounted for the autumn sowing of crops in Azerbaijan in 2019; 641,000 hectares accounted for wheat, while 369,240 hectares - barley.
