Iran's Chabahar Free Zone seeks to obtain government support amid coronavirus

Iran's Chabahar Free Zone needs government 's support during the coronavirus spread, while banks shall provide advances to businesses, Managing Director of the free zone Abdolrahim Kordi told Trend.

"The government has assigned $11 billion to support productive units in the country and Chabahar Free Zone has requested for a quota in the approved budget," Kordi said.

" We are negotiating with agent banks to receive funds for productive units in Chabahar Free Zone, and we are developing proposals for supporting package to be provided by regional banking council in Chabahra Free Zone to the businesses affected by the coronavirus spread,' the managing director added.

"Some of our trade units have been damaged more and need around $119-million financial aid, while small businesses are expected to receive from $1,100 to $230,000 as bank advances; via cooperation with regional bank we can cover most of the needs, but we still need the government's support package," he said.

"In the near future, Sistan and Baluchestan Province will become one of the centers of steel and petrochemical production in Iran. Petrochemical complex on an area of 1,200 hectares and Markan Steel Complex with production capacity of 1.6 million tons in Chabahar Free Zone are under construction," he said.

"Arya profile pipe production company has been one of the active units in Chabahar Free Zone through private sector investment; it has production capacity of 100,000 tons of industrial pipes for gas industry and employs 80 individuals," he added.

"Mahourbafan's fish net manufacturing company annually produces 700 tons of fish net; it is considered the biggest net manufacturer in the country and has potential to export the product to regional countries," he said.
