Azerbaijan discloses its overall trade turnover data

Legal entities and individuals in Azerbaijan carried out trade operations with partners from 161 countries from January through April 2020, Trend reports citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

Over the reporting period, legal entities and individuals carried out export operations to 96 countries, and made imports from 149 countries.

In the first 4 months of 2020, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover surpassed $8.1billion, of which $4.79 billion accounted for export, and $3.38 billion for import, resulting in a surplus of trade worth over $1.4 billion.

In the reporting period, foreign trade turnover of the country decreased by 25.5 percent, real - by 17.1 percent, including import - by 40.5 percent, and export - by 0.4 percent over the year.

At the same time, 86.4 percent of the foreign trade turnover was accounted for trade operations with Italy, Turkey, Russia, China, the US, Israel, Germany, India, Ukraine, Greece, Czech, Portugal, Georgia, Tunisia, Vietnam, Austria, Iran and France.

In particular, 18.1 percent of the total value of imported products accounted for Russia, 14.9 percent - for Turkey, 12.6 percent - for China, 9.6 percent – for the US, 5.3 percent - for Germany, 4, 4 percent - for Italy, 4.3 percent – for Ukraine, 2.8 percent - for Iran, 2.2 percent - for the UK, 1.9 percent - for Japan, 1.7 percent - for France, 1.6 percent – for Korea, 1.3 percent - for India and Turkmenistan each, 1.2 percent - for Belarus and 16.8 percent - for other countries.

During the indicating months, import of fresh fruits increased by 14.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019, import of vegetable oils - by 17.4 percent. Meanwhile, import of butter, other milk fats increased by 30.1 percent, tea - by 4,3 percent, beef - 21.7 percent, fresh vegetables - 20.5 percent, cars - 50.8 percent, medicines - 1.7 times, rolled steel - 52.3 percent, pipes from ferrous metals - by 48.2 percent, computing machines, blocks and devices - by 32.8 percent, rubber tires - by 9.5 percent, trucks - by 7.6 percent, furniture - by 10.1 percent, polyethylene - by 1.2 percent, washing machines - 5.1 percent, buses - 30.2 percent, cement and cement clinker - 8.5 percent.

Imports of wheat decreased by 46.1 percent, potato - by 2.7 percent, poultry - by 12.7 percent, raw sugar and sugar - by 51.2 percent, cigarettes - by 77.6 percent.

In the reporting period, 16,020 cars, 1,048 trucks, 69 buses were imported into the country.
