BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Georgian Caesar dairy company, previously mainly focused on cheese production, added yogurt to its range, further intending to increase the share of dairy products in its production, Trend reports via Georgian media.
According to the founder of the company, Caesar Kakhadze, the production of yogurt at the enterprise is caused by several factors. With the supply of excess milk in the spring-summer period, enough milk is accumulated for the production of yogurt. In addition, the demand for yogurt in this season especially increases.
The Caesar company plans a larger-scale production of dairy products, which implies both an expansion of the assortment and an increase in production. At present, the company sells yogurt only in Batumi, both in its company stores and in city supermarkets.
Another factor of yogurt production by Caesar is the popularization of Georgian products in Batumi.
“Our goal is to compete not so much with Georgian production in this market as with Turkish products, which are quite popular in Batumi. And therefore, I think that if high-quality Georgian products made from raw milk at a specific price appear on the market, the consumer will no longer make a choice in favor of Turkish products,” said Kakhadze.
At this stage, Caesar processes 7-8 tons of milk per day, producing cheese and butter. The company also exports sulguni cheese to the United States.
