The winner of the tender for large-scale reconstruction of the refinery in the city of Seydi (the eastern part of the country) has been announced. Preparatory work for the feasibility study is being conducted, "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper said. The tender "Feasibility study and development of basic project of radical modernization and reconstruction of Seydi refinery" was announced in 2009.
The article states that a large-scale modernization of refineries is envisaged.
This enterprise will be focused on the comprehensive processing of oil, gas condensate and natural gas. A large-scale production of road bitumen, polyethylene and polypropylene, the most valuable chemical feedstock - benzene, toluene, xylene, and various petroleum products is planned to be produced.
