More than 50 percent of Georgia de-energized due to voltage drop

Half of the population of Georgia was left without electricity due to the low voltage caused by the forced switching at the Inguri hydroelectric power station, the company State electrical system of Georgia told Trend on Saturday.

More than 60 percent of Tbilisi was also left without electricity.

The ministry stated that forced switching at the Inguri hydroelectric power station began at 10:00 and system failure will be eliminated by 12:00.

Those regions of Georgia that are not supplied by the Inguri hydroelectric power station, supplied with electricity without interference. Electricity from the Inguri hydroelectric power station is mainly supplied to western Georgia and Tbilisi.
