The Kazatomprom Kazakh Atomic Company has launched a pilot project with the use of heat pump installations in the Eastern region of Kazakhstan.

'Today, as of October 30, a heat pump boiler room has been launched in Kirov High School in the village of Praporschikovo situated in the Glubokov district in East Kazakhstan ', the company's statement reported.

This is the first educational body which will be heated by heat pump units (HPU), produced by Mashzavod , a subsidiary of the Ulbin iron and steel plant.

The estimated cost of services and equipment for the installation of one unit with a heat pump heating surface of 2000-2500 metres is about 60 million tenge.

The funding of the pilot project is sourced mostly by Kazatomprom. The administration of Eastern Kazakhstan region also financed the project by providing 27 million tenge, which allowed the complete replacement of the heating system, window frames and generally insulate the school.

The heat pumps are highly efficient in the use of a small payback. The system is designed considering the harsh climate of the East Kazakhstan region. 1 kW of energy consumed is converted to 5 kW of heat. This system will free the school from high fuels bills and the payback is in three to four years.

Heat pump is a machine that consumes low potential heat from the environment and transmits it to a system of heat supply in the form of hot water or air. The setting allows you to transfer the heat from the source at a lower temperature to a source with a high output.
