BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 19. Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has invested around 70 million euros in its expansion in Romania, said Hamza Karimov, CEO of SOCAR Romania, Trend reports.
He pointed out that currently, SOCAR Romania has 74 gas stations.
“With approximately 70 million euros invested so far for our expansion, we currently have over 700 employees across Romanian cities. This year, we managed to open three more gas stations, and we plan on continuing the expansion next year,” Karimov told local media.
He went on to add that the company is also analyzing trading activities and green energy production in Romania.
Earlier, Virgil-Daniel Popescu, Romanian Minister of Energy told Trend that Romania is one of the priority directions for the development of SOCAR`s business, not only in the area of retail operations but also in terms of the transport of Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe.
“SOCAR is carrying out important projects in Romania and I would like to take this opportunity to reassure that Romanian energy market offers huge opportunities for any investor who creates jobs and makes substantial investments in both upstream as well as in the downstream segment,” added Popescu.
