Azerbaijan sees growth in regional bank deposits

The total bank deposits of the population of Azerbaijani regions as of late December 2019 made up over 8.6 billion manat ($5.1 billion), which is 262 million manat ($154.1 million) or 3 percent more compared to late December 2018, Trend reports Jan. 30 referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

The share of Azerbaijani regions in the total volume of all bank deposits in the country as of late December 2019 was 9.6 percent.

Around 81.2 percent or 702 million manat ($412.9 million) of all deposits in the country's regions for the reporting period account for savings in the national currency. As of late December, the volume of deposits in Baku amounted to over 7.8 billion manat ($4.6 billion), including 3.4 billion manat (over $2 billion) in national currency.

The average annual interest rate on loans for December 2019 was 3.8 percent in the country's regions and 3.7 percent in Baku.
