Trend:

Following the increase of COVID-19 cases in Georgia, Iran has restricted the entrance of trucks coming from Georgia, said the Director General of the Transit Office in Iran Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization Javad Hedayat, Trend reports via ILNA.

He also pointed out that Georgia has banned the entrance of Iran's trucks from the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in Feb. 2020.

"Due to considerable trade volume between the two countries, about 300 Iranian businessmen purchased trucks with Georgian plates, but they also were restricted from entering Georgia," said Hedayat.

"Unfortunately, Georgia has kept up the restrictions regarding Iran's trucks for a year," Hedayat said. "Currently there are no Iranian trucks behind the Georgian border."

"The number of COVID-19 infections has increased, while Iran tried to implement health protocols with Georgia to continue the trade, it didn't work out. So Iran restricted the entrance of Georgia's trucks as well," said the official.
