The construction of Ghadir expressway is in its final stages and is almost complete, said Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development of Iran Kheyrollah Khademi, Trend reports via Fars News Agency.

"About 70 percent of the expressway is being built by the Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters, while the government took on the other 30 percent," Khademi said.

"The expressway would connect Alborz, Tehran and Qazvin provinces, help increase transportation in the country," he said.

"The 157-kilometer expressway has six lanes, and by adding 60 kilometers of ramps and loops to the route, it would make a total of 220 kilometers," he said.

"Ghadir expressway starts from Abyek in Qazvin-Karaj intersection and passes through Tehran-Saveh and Tehran-Qom and would connect to Qom Gharmsar highway," Khademi said.

The official added that the expressway would reduce the environmental problem and heavy traffic.
