BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29. The International Road Transport Union (IRU) plans to enhance cooperation with private automotive and logistics companies from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to develop the Middle Corridor, Trend reports via a social media post by Tatiana Rey-Bellet, the IRU representative for freight and transit issues.

"IRU representatives in OTS nations, acting from a unified platform, could play an important role in providing recommendations for the development of transport links, especially the Middle Corridor," noted Rey-Bellet.

She said that industry experts could lend a helping hand to the authorities of OTS countries in pulling together their efforts to build bridges between nations.

In fact, IRU shows great interest in the Middle Corridor, seeing significant prospects for the development of international trade.

The union has been going strong for over 30 years and has its fingers in the pies of more than 3.5 million companies in over 100 nations worldwide.

As to the Middle Corridor, it has been functioning for 10 years, being particularly active in the last two years due to new geopolitical realities.

In the year 2023, a whopping 2.7 million tons of cargo sailed through this corridor, and the transportation plan for 2024 is set to surpass a staggering four million tons.
