BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 18. Kyrgyzstan imported a total of 15,708 tons of tomatoes valued at $8.829 million from January through June 2023, Trend reports.
According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the volume of imports decreased by 20 percent year-on-year, while the value decreased by 14 percent.
The majority of tomatoes were imported from Turkmenistan, accounting for 10,357 tons with a value of $6.2 million, followed by Uzbekistan with 5,063 tons amounting to $2.3 million. During the period under review, Kyrgyzstan also imported tomatoes from Kazakhstan, Iran, Türkiye, and China.
Simultaneously, Kyrgyzstan exported a total of 418.9 tons of tomatoes from January through June 2023, which were sold for a value of $175,500.
These deliveries were made to Kazakhstan (256.8 tons for $152,300) and Russia (162.1 tons for $23,200).
Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $6.7 billion from January through June 2023, an increase of 31 percent compared to the first half of 2022 ($5.1 billion).
Kyrgyzstan's exports totaled $1.306 billion, which is 34.6 percent more than the $970.5 million recorded from January through June 2022. The country's imports reached $5.398 billion, rising 30.3 percent compared to the same months of the previous year ($4.142 billion).
