BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 15. The trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China reached $3.176 billion from January through August 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that, compared to the previous year, it increased by $560.1 million or 21.4 percent year-on-year. Chinese share was 33.9 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade turnover, making it the largest trade partner of the country.
The main reason for this growth was the increase in imports from China. During the same period in 2022, it grew by 21.7 percent year-on-year and reached $3.1 billion.
Additionally, Kyrgyz exports reached $46.7 million, increasing by 4.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
The primary imported goods from China include dishwashing machines ($618.7 million), cars ($360.6 million), knit fabrics ($226 million), footwear components ($177.8 million), fixtures and fittings ($169.8 million).
In turn, Kyrgyzstan exported ores and concentrates of precious metals ($22.4 million), ores and concentrates of copper ($11.1 million), oil and oil products ($4.5 million), mineral water ($726,800), and aluminum ($716,800) to China.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $9.407 billion from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 27.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Exports amounted to $1.85 billion, increasing 46.7 percent year-on-year. Imports reached $7.556 billion, growing by grew 23.3 percent compared to the same months of 2022.
In the structure of the trade turnover, exports accounted for 19.7 percent, while imports made up 80.3 percent.
