ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 24. The state-owned power plants of the Lebap region, located in the east of Turkmenistan, generated more than 2.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first half of this year, Trend reports.

According to official data, during this period, the region's power plants generated 12.2 percent more electricity than in the same period in 2023.

A certain part of the electricity produced under the contract is constantly sent to foreign consumers.

Furthermore, over the past year, the state-owned power plants in the Lebap region generated more than 4.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is 12.8 percent more than in the same period of 2022, which amounted to 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours.

Meanwhile, from January through May of this year, the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan exceeded the production plan and completed work by 8.5 percent.

Such high rates in Turkmenistan make it possible to reliably supply industrial enterprises and settlements with electricity, as well as send a certain part of it abroad.

Countries such as Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan are among the consumers of electricity produced in the country.
