Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Israeli ambassador Hillel Newman at the end of last week, who completed his diplomatic mission in the republic, Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported.
"During the conversation, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues," the report said.
The parties also approved mutual interest in implementation of joint projects for attracting the advanced technologies of Israel in the sphere of agriculture, water conservation and energy.
Uzbek Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to Hillel Newman for his constructive contribution to the development of Uzbek-Israeli interactions.
Hillel Newman for his part thanked the Foreign Minister for favorable conditions, which were created for successful implementation of his mission in Uzbekistan.
According to the data provided by the Israeli sources, Karmela Shamir will be appointed to the post of Israeli ambassador - the first female ambassador of Israel, who will serve in a Muslim country.
Israel is one of the first countries to recognize Uzbekistan's independence in December, 1991. The Israeli embassy in Uzbekistan was opened in Tashkent in May, 1992. The relationship between two countries is regulated by 15 intergovernmental and three interagency agreements.
