BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. Iran's exports of non-oil products to Iraq increased by 27.5 percent in value and 26.8 percent in weight terms during the five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through August 22, 2023), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Director General of Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvanifar told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, Iran exported 13.5 million tons of products worth $4.6 billion to Iraq during the five months.
The official noted that Iraq mainly receives a whole lot of goods, including liquefied natural gas, steel products, iron ingots, valves, construction materials, and agricultural products.
Rezvanifar added that Iran imported 43,000 tons of products worth $246 million from Iraq during the five months.
The deputy minister stated that for five months, 4.5 million tons of products were transported via Iran and Iraq. The transit increased by 152 percent compared to the same period last year.
He pointed out that Iran exported 27 million tons of products worth $9.3 billion and imported 142,000 tons of products worth $575 million to Iraq last year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
Meanwhile, Iran exported 60.5 million tons of non-oil products worth $21.9 billion during the five months. During the five months, exports of non-oil products increased by 10 percent in value and 7 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
To note, Iran imported 15.7 million tons of non-oil products worth $26.3 billion during the five months. Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 5.53 percent in value and 7.93 percent in weight terms over five months compared to the same period last year.
