By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Imposing new sanctions can't affect the will of Iranian nation, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said.

Rouhani, addressing on Sept. 26 a group of Iranian elites and businessmen in New York, where he arrived for the UN General Assembly, said the issues such as imposition of new sanctions won't take effect, "because we have acted in such a way that re-imposing the sanctions can't affect the will of Iranian nation."

Rouhani also said his country has achieved great success under the sanctions.

"One of the reasons of success in the nuclear talks was that the other side understood that the Iranian economy is able to recover," he added.

No one is doubtful about the effective role of Iran in the region, he said, adding that the Iranian government is recognized as an anti-terrorist government.

"Everyone acknowledges that if Iran didn't support the regional governments, we would have witnessed a dangerous situation in the region," said Rouhani.

"Over the past two years, the government has taken positive measures to improve social and economic situation," he further noted. "To materialize the economic development goal, we should take advantage of all our capacities."

He also stressed that Iranian expatriates are a great asset in this regard.
