A Sydney woman was bitten by a shark Saturday while swimming with her husband in the Whitsundays on Australia's north-east coast, DPA reported.
The 60-year-old victim was believed to have lost several litres of blood from gashes to her buttocks and legs.
She was taken by a dive boat to Hamilton Island and flown from there to Mackay Base Hospital by helicopter.
She underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.
