Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission says it has begun registering thousands of candidates for the upcoming parliamentary election, PRESS TV reported.
The electoral body has pledged to work day and night to ensure that a free and fair election is held.
September's parliamentary election will be the second since the fall of the Taliban in late 2001.
Last week, Afghan President Hamid Karzai appointed a new director to head the election commission.
Karzai recently repeated his accusation that Western countries, and the United States in particular, were involved in vote fraud in the 2009 Afghan presidential election.
