Afghan forces backed by NATO-led troops apprehended three Taliban insurgents including their commander in Logar province 60 km south of Afghan capital Kabul on Friday, police said.
"Taliban commander namely Qari Burhan along with two of his armed men were arrested in Logar's provincial capital Pul-e-Alam at 01:00 a.m. local time today,"provincial police chief Mustafa Mohsini told Xinhua.
A car full of explosive device was also seized from his possession, he added.
The detained Taliban commander Qari Burhan was involved in attacking Afghan and NATO-led troops in Pul-e-Alam, Baraki Barak and Mohammad Agha districts, the police chief said.
Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops have to make comment yet.
