Six persons died and dozens were injured in an apartment fire in south-eastern Russia, officials said Friday.
The blaze struck a nine-story building in the Volga River city Samara, some 700 kilometres south-east of Moscow, DPA reported.
A total 39 persons were injured of whom 8 were hospitalised, said Oleg Zugeev, in a Ministry of Emergency Situations statement.
The fire broke out in a ground floor store and spread rapidly four stories upward. The cause the blaze was unclear.
