French President arrives in Azerbaijan

French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in Azerbaijan on Friday.

The visit takes place within the tour to the South Caucasus.

During French President's visit to Azerbaijan on Oct. 7, an agreement is expected to be signed on establishing a French school in Azerbaijan, which will provide a complete education in French from kindergarten to high schools, diplomatic sources told Trend.

This is a joint project of the education ministries of the two countries, which also involves SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan). During his visit, Sarkozy will hold talks in Baku at the highest level in face-to-face and expanded formats with presence of delegations.

There are plans to discuss bilateral relations, regional issues and problems of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. France, as one of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, will express its position on the prospects for the negotiation process.

President of France will be accompanied by representatives of several French companies operating in Azerbaijan and several ministers, the source said.

Sarkozy's trip to the South Caucasus began on Oct. 6 from Armenia. Sarkozy will travel from Baku to Georgia.
