Azerbaijan, Baku, May 15 /Trend M.Aliyev/

Azerbaijani youth will be more actively involved in EU youth projects, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Intigam Babayev said at a seminar on Tuesday.

Babayev noted that Azerbaijani youth will have the opportunity to directly participate in projects funded by the EU within the framework of the youth movement of the Eastern Partnership countries.

"More than 40 organizations of Azerbaijan took part in more than 120 EU projects since 2007. The participation will be expanded since this year," he said.

More funds will be allocated to Azerbaijan in order to create conditions for the implementation of more projects within the program Youth in Action, Head of EU Delegation in Azerbaijan Fredericka Byrne said at the seminar.

"This program of the EU has become a priority in the youth policy of the organization in recent years" she said.

She said the program ]promoted youth employment during the financial crisis in Europe.

"The main purpose of the program is to develop solidarity and tolerance among young people," the representative of the EU said.

Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Affairs of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Fahraddin Ismayilov said the simplification of visa regime with the countries of Eastern Partnership will serve to the development of relations between young people from different
countries.

Ismayilov added that more passive participation of Azerbaijani youth in the projects of the EU in comparison with youth of other countries of Eastern Partnership is mainly due to the lack of information. He said the program Youth in Action will solve this problem.
