BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. Humanitarian cooperation is one of the priority areas of cooperation in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which is confirmed by the second meeting of the Red Crescent and Red Cross Network of Turkic States, which is taking place in Baku, the OTS Secretary General, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, told reporters, Trend reports.

He made the remark on the sidelines of the meeting of the heads of the Red Crescent Network of OTS member states in Baku.

Omuraliev stressed that although cooperation within the OIC covers more than 45 areas, from foreign policy, economy, trade, sports, and youth to agriculture and technology, humanitarian issues occupy one of the key places.

The Secretary General also mentioned that work in the humanitarian sphere is being carried out through the ministries of emergencies.

“Last year, the main departmental document on civil protection was adopted and signed by the heads of state in Bishkek. This agreement has already been ratified and will soon come into force. The creation of a network through the Red Cross and Red Crescent is also a continuation of our cooperation in this area,” Omuraliev explained.

He emphasized that cooperation is not limited to assisting in disasters, droughts, or other calamities. Historically, Turkic peoples have always helped each other in difficult times, and this cooperation unites our peoples and continues centuries-old traditions of brotherhood.
