Azerbaijan reduces wheat imports in first half of 2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22. Azerbaijan imported 386,022 tons of wheat from January through June 2024, which is 21.73 percent (107,188 tons) less than the indicator for the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, wheat imports exceeded $85.1 million in value terms (a year-on-year decrease of 41.48 percent, or $62.227 million).

The share of wheat imports in the reporting period amounted to 0.96 percent of Azerbaijan's total imports.

To note, Azerbaijan's imports of food products from January through June 2024 increased in value terms by 6.9 percent ($73 million) and amounted to $1.1 billion.

Azerbaijan imported 1.1 million tons of wheat in 2023, which is 9.1 percent (117,655 tons) less than in 2022.
