Uzbekistan's business index decreases in January

The business index in industrial sector in Uzbekistan, calculated by the Antimonopoly Policy Improvement Centre of the Uzbek State Committee of De-monopolization, in January 2012 decreased by 11.5 points compared to December 2011 and reached 54.1 points, a report published on the State Committee website says on Thursday.

In December 2011, the index hit 65,.6 points, while in November - 58.1 points.

As it was reported earlier, predicted indicator for December hit 63.1 points.

According to the Center, the main factors of the index decrease are the end of previous financial year, signing new contracts for 2012 and factor of demand seasonality on the markets.

According to the Center's analysts, the business index value is above 50 points in January, which indicates a favorable trend of business development.

Expected index for February 2012 is 69.5 points, which indicates businessmen's moderate optimistic expectations.

The business index of the industrial sector is calculated based on survey of 100 large and medium industrial enterprises.

The index is calculated based on five key indicators, such as new orders, production and sales volumes, employment and remnants of the finished product.
