Tajik farmers prefer buying Iranian tractors for their high quality, durability, and reasonable price.
Morteza Meshkini, Director of Iran-Tajikistan joint tractor manufacturing plant (Tajiran), said that the tractors manufactured in this plant are sold $3,000 cheaper than Belarus and Chinese tractors, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on April 30.
Tajiran, is the sole producer of tractors and agricultural machinery in Tajikistan.
The production line was inaugurated in 2006 with an annual production capacity of 2,000 tractors.
Iran's former ambassador to Tajikistan, Ali-Asghar Sherdoost, said last year trade between Iran and Tajikistan exceeded $500 million in 2011.
According to Tajikistan's chamber of commerce, Iran-Tajikistan trade hit $250 million in 2012.
According to Iran Custom Administration reports, The bilateral trade also amounted to about $249 million during last Iranian fiscal year, ended on March 20.
