By Tamilla Mamedova - Trend:
Georgia must continue sectoral reforms, said Swiss Ambassador to Georgia Patrick Franzen, Trend reports via Georgian media.
Ambassador explains that in order to tap its export potential, Georgia has to achieve the critical mass of production of goods. To facilitate the purchase of agricultural land by foreign investors would be an important contribution to this.
“Overall, the framework conditions of Georgia have to focus on high-quality management of its niche products. This is crucial to position the brand “Made in Georgia” as a global quality brand. It is possible”, Franzen says.
The ambassador recommends Georgia to develop further its focus on quality niche products especially in agriculture.
“However, in order to be competitive in price, a sufficient quantity has to be produced in order to keep the transport costs relatively low”, Franzen noted.
“Georgia needs political stability and functioning democratic institutions, stable relations with the neighboring countries, respect of the rule of law, especially concerning a competent and impartial Judiciary, maintain the achievements in the fight against corruption, keep an open market orientation, pursue the reform of the education system, especially by generalizing and improving vocational education, and continue sectoral reforms”, Franzen declares.
