Dodge Hornet creeping closer to production

Business Materials 2 August 2006 15:06 (UTC +04:00)

(Autoinsidernews) - Whatever it is, the Dodge Hornet Concept has it. Cool style. Got it. Plenty of room. Got it. Aftermarket-style and super-functional interior. Got it.

In fact, it is so cool Dodge would be dumb not to build it. While Dodge has not confirmed that it will reach production, all signs are pointing to Dodge being smart enough to greenlight the Hornet.

Tom Tremont, vice president of advanced design and strategy, said, Right now we dont have a small car like the Hornet, and if the market continues the way it is, well have to consider smaller cars in the very near term.

Gas prices are not falling, nor are they expected to and the U.S. B-segment is filling up with cars like the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit and Nissan Versa, reports Trend.

Dodge is likely to give the Hornet the green light, but it is still working out a few details. What does the U.S. small car market look like in four or five year? Who will it partner for development and production? Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Chery? Can Dodge bring the concept to market without watering it down?
