Amendments to the law on hydrocarbon resources came into force in Turkmenistan. The document was signed by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Part 4, Article 47 must be as follows: The procedure of customs clearance of goods, materials and equipment for oil operations imported to Turkmenistan by the contractor, the export of Turkmen goods, materials and equipment, as well as the volume of hydrocarbon resources for the contractor is stipulated by the acts of the Turkmen President or the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Turkmen President's acts may limit or ban the import, purchase and use of explosive materials and substances, radioactive and chemical materials used by a contractor while conducting oil operations.
The second largest gas field in the world - South Yoloten-Osman -- is in the east of Turkmenistan. According to Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GCA), the reserves hit 21 trillion cubic meters of gas.
