Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon is considering the possibility of introducing mobile television service to subscribers, Azerfon Corporate Communications Manager Elshad Farzaliyev told Trend .
Today, the company is considering proposals of BBTV cable operator. It submitted a list of channels to Azerfon that can be submitted for streaming mobile TV content.
At present, proposals are under consideration. After approval the mobile television service can be available to subscribers.
BBTV company said technical implementation of mobile TV services is as follows: cable television operator provides mobile operators with TV signal, which is distributed over the user devices by reaching a server of the operator.
It is necessary to install the appropriate application and get settings of a mobile operator to start watching TV on a mobile phone.
Communication standard of the third-generation, as opposed to the second generation, which uses a technology called GPRS (171 Kbps) and EDGE (up to 384 kbit / s) using the maximum speed of data transmission, provides a real opportunity to render services for "streaming video". According to the results of testing, the speed of data transmission in 3G Azerfon-Vodafone was equal to 2.2 Mbps. Testing was made using an independent system to test the speed of access to the world-famous Internet sites, posted at speedtest.net.
